I've seen a lot of pics. and read some opinion and the general consensus is that she should never have sailed in the first place. I wouldn't have been happy at all....

Now that she has sailed and all of this damage has happened, what is the insurance situation ?
I was talking to a couple of motorhomes yesterday and they believe that it is the motorhomes insurance company that would have to pay for Damage to Campers and some insurance companies will not cover you while at sea. They believe that Dolmen will up to €15000
Anybody know if this is true or false?

My take on it is that if the damage is caused by Irish ferries negligence by not securing the load then it is their(insurance) responsibility to pay. It happened on one of the bike club events I ran when a rough crossing caused one of the bikes to fall over, it's was a right mess with smashed fairings etc, ate a paid for the repairs as their load man checked the straps holding it.

You would hope so John. It might be a differnt story if you left on your gas in a crossing like that and the ferry caught Fire. €15000 wouldn't compensate much if you were liable.

Just wondered if anyone has access to the forecast just before this boat sailed.?
Most of regular travellers will have experienced a few rough crossings and I have started to pay for
A flexible booking to allow for an obvious bad weather forecast!
Trouble is that this boat seems to sail pretty much regardless of the weather and frankly I no longer
Trust the ferry company to provide any meaningful advice to motorhome travellers.
More experienced travelers may say differently, and with the full understanding that the weather can
Change,I think that if the forecast is stormforce 9 gusting 10/11 ,then the crossing is not for me!!!
We all can get caught out, when I am working I spend most days at sea but it has taken a long time for meTo grasp that these boats sail to suit the Commercial traffic and that private customers are not a big Part of the decision to sail.
Seems like either be prepared to wait or consider the channel tunnel???
