We stop over on the road down to the beach and pitch and put course. Drive towards the beach with the bay on your right until you get to the split (y junction) the left continues on to the beach (height barriers and tight) you could stay there on the roadside if you arrive after the beach empties. There is a toilet block. We park at the Y junction at the start of the right fork. Be careful as the road runs for about 200m and ends in soft sand so don't go too far.

I have seen vans park at the harbour which is down the other side of the bay. Both roads are narrow so best driven late in the day or early.

I have thought about parking at the head of the inner lagoon. There is a car park there with recycling facilities but I don't know if it is a private park. The town itself is fairly narrow and hilly so best avoided. There is a good chippie in the square and a couple of the restaurants are well regarded.

We have also stayed at a lovely spit of land at 'the league' on the opposite side of the bay from Castletownend. Narrow roads but lovely spot. I have also considered Union Hall at the harbour but not needed it.

Up until some years ago the Celtic Ross hotel in Rosscarbery left truck drivers in their car park. Stopped this practise as they did not get any business from the drivers. Them put up height barriers. For a few years the Leeside branch of the Irish Camping & Caravan Club held their annual dinner dance there and were allowed to park caravans and campers in the car park foc.May be worth giving them a call.

Delighted to hear it. Well done .Just to be aware that if they do not get business out of it they may close the height barriers again.
