The C.L.C. (Le Comité de Liaison du Camping-Car) are still active in the courts perusing municipalities who attempt to ban the parking of motorhomes.
La Rochelle is the latest to be ordered by the court to remove parking signs which discriminate against motorhomes. SEE HERE give it a moment and Google will translate.

We really do need a similar concerted approach here which involves both club and trade interests.
Success against the likes of Galway and others who seek to deny motorhome users their right to park in a manner afforded to other EU Category M1 Vehicles (vehicles with not more than 8 passenger seats - 'cars', 'SUV's', 'MPV's', etc) could only be good for motorhome users, tourism and the trade.

I couldn't agree more. Ireland, north and south are very anti motorhome, but it's their loss. Hady

It's also our loss, as we can't travel and explore the country we live in, or at least not without being made feel like we are doing something wrong.

Is that concerted approach not happening in some shape or form at present? do you have any suggestions on ways forward?

We discussed this in the past, should Motorhomecraic become Ireland's version of The C.L.C. ? it all requires a lot of dedication and someone well up in parking laws and legislation, like yourself. MHC can certainly put it's name behind any such activity and become a platform for it, I can certainly do the web aspect of it but I am not the person for campaigning, that's not my bag.

I think MHC is the only circus in town where you have members from probably all of the clubs and Trade interests logging on. I also think Motorhome owners are a spineless group in general, if Issues don't hit their pocket they aren't bothered. I hope I am proven wrong! The annoying thing is there are a hell of a lot is out there spread across every County in the Country and with an Election coming up we should have something in place to lobby all the canvassers coming to our doors.
If we attack this with a united front there is no reason why we cannot improve the plight of Irish and European Motorhome owners Holidaying in Ireland.

The problem is numbers, we are just not a big enough concern to force the powers that be to do anything.
But agreed, when you motorhome in France you appreciate just how bad Ireland is and I'm afraid France and the rest of Europe is the place we will continue to spend our money and let Ireland fester away in its own juices.

I think we have enough numbers, just not committed Numbers. If the New government doubled the cost of Motorhome Tax and hit peoples pockets then you would have commitment Just like the anti Water protesters.
