Overnight Parking Castlebar

Happy New Year!

Can anyone suggest a safe and central overnight parking area in Castlebar, preferably within walking distance of McHale Park?

Have stayed in Lough Lannagh before, but would prefer not to stay in a campsite this time.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks you Ham and Jam. It was actually for the Dublin game last weekend but it clashed with something else so we couldn't go. If you know of anywhere, feel free to let me know for future stays :)

Thanks for that, didn't realize it was that near to Breaffy Woods which is where we need to be. It'll do nicely

Anyone know if overnight parking is permitted in Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club? Can't get through to them on the phone.

It doesnt seem to be a problem, there was a motorhome parked up for the Mayo v Kerry match this weekend. Even got a mention in local papers facebook page. All comments seemed positive. There is plenty of places to park up besides that are in close proximity to pubs and restaurants. A few campers overnight in the big carpark behind Main street and there doesnt seem to be any issue with it. See you on the 24th....Hon Mayo...

Just seeing your reply now thank you! A few motorhoming friends are joining us so hopefully we can make contact with the Club before then.

Looking forward to Saturday. May the best team win 👕💙

Just to update, we did indeed park up at Castlebar Mitchels Clubhouse on the day of the match. We asked and were granted permission, and were shown where exactly to park (we were 4 motorhomes and it was very busy being right beside McHale Park). We had a few very reasonably priced drinks in the clubhouse before heading into Castlebar for dinner before the game.

The clubhouse isn't always open though so best to ring ahead, but we were certainly made feel very welcome given that we spent money behind the bar. On leaving the next morning we discovered a tap also.
