At the weekend we were in Dublin for a bit of Christmas shopping and went to get the bus from the hotel to Grafton street, not a problem bus stop across the road from the hotel, looked it up and the fare is €2.75 each so waited five minutes and three busses turn up, tried to get on two of them and were turned away on each. Now I know some of you would think "I know him and I would turn him away!" But the reason for it was we didn't have €5.50 in coins only a €5 euro note and the correct odds.
The buses do no take notes off you, you must have a pocket full of change to use it!
Needless to say we paid for a taxi each way, more comfortable and right to were we wanted to go.
I just can't get it, councils want to be Ecco friendly and encourage people to use public transport to keep traffic from town/city centres but have stupid rules which prevent you from doing this. I know our southern brethren may not have a problem with having a pocket full of euro coins as its your primary currency but us northerners don't always have euros as cash machines only dispense notes!
