Any advice about Spain

:hello:

We have booked with Irish Ferries from Rosslare to Roscoff on 6th May, returning 10th June next year. We are hoping to make it down to Spain where the weather should be nice and maybe see some of the real Spain.

We would also like to take in maybe a week on the Camino. Hubby will walk each day and I will try to meet up with him in the 'van for afternoons/evenings as I am not really mobile. We understand the aires in Spain are not as many as in France, or up to the same standard but maybe somebody knows some that are ok or good places to park up wild.

We would love to visit some interesting places. Accessibility is not an issue as if a place is not accessible for me then I just enjoy time in the 'van.

Anybody got any hints/tips for us?

Anything at all would be very welcome.

Cheers.

Hi Colette, Have to agree with Thomas.. San Sebastian is a fantastic place to visit and it has an Aire as well. Pamplona is another great place to visit in the North of Spain and an Aire is close by in a town called Berriozar which has a convenient bus link into Pamplona. Hope you have a great time whatever places you choose to visit.

One thing to bear in mind, while in Spain it is legal to park overnight anywhere in Spain as long as there are no specific restrictions so long as you do not increase the size of your vans footprint, as that makes it camping if you do.

We spent a few months in the north of Spain last summer. Absolutely fantastic!!!! Some of the best aires we found apart from San Sebastian were Lekeitio, Lierganes, and Zumaia in the Basque Country and Tapia de Casariego in Asturias.
There was no wild camping allowed anywhere in Cantabria, but we found lots of wonderful places to stay in Galicia.
The free aire at Carbaceno in the safari park is quite interesting as with a fairly short walk you can view the elephants, water buffalo etc.
