campsite prices in france

Hi guys.
So we are mulling over maybe going to france next summer in the camper.
We would probably use aires at the start and the end but use a campsite in the middle.

We have been in france before where we stayed in mobile homes on a campsite for a week.

But we don't know the cost of a pitch for the camper for a week on a French campsite or if you can negotiate a reduction.

SO any chance some of ye could reply as to where ye stayed, what time.and of course cost, just so we can get a feel for the thing.

I know that I could go to individual campsite websites but I think I might get more of a feel for the whole thing here.

Cheers

Hi,

A good starting point would be to explore the ACSI site. This link will take you to the initial page which layers down to individual sites by region. Each site gives a guide price.

http://www.eurocampings.co.uk/

You don't say wether you will be there in high season (July and August), but if you are in France during June or September (still summerish) then the discount card is invaluable. For approximately €15 you will save a load of money. We tend to use Aires for about 3 - 4 days and then dip onto a site for decent showers, laundry, a pool etc before going to Aires again.

Hi,

I thought that might be the case. The ACSI link is not for the discounted scheme, they list over 9000 sites in Europe which are inspected by themselves, so it should still allow you to select sample sites in the regions you hope to visit and allow you to estimate the costs.

searching through them myself €35 to €65 depending on what you want and when your going
i'm on the ACSI site the last few hours, you can select a region and then filter it.
for example there's 98 site listed for Vendee but if you select near a beech, campers welcome, water slide , kids club etc. it narrows it down to around 10 sites

Hi Fork,
anywhere near the coast in summer and youll be lucky to get anything less than 50euro night for a MH.
There are a few municipal (usually owned by local councils) that dont usually have a pool that would be a bit cheaper.

Also I wouldn't even worry about booking ahead. Been going for >20 yrs to campsites in various forms of transport and never been stuck yet (unless your van is very big?)

There are plenty of brilliant aires all along the whole N and W coast for <20 max with some even close to municipal pool or beach. If you have bikes youll never be far from a swim

I totally agree with Hymer. I've been going to France for over 20 years and I've never booked anything and have always been able to find somewhere to park.
