Self locking door

Lads has anyone come across a self locking habitation lock when you bang it closed. At first I did not believe it but this evening when I was getting in I banged the door shut as I was about to hit the road and sure enough the black button moved down to the locked position.
My only fear is getting locked out. Any ideas?? 🇧🇭

One idea is to keep a spare key hidden out side, wont solve the problem but will get you out of trouble

You could look at a forum relating to your particular marque and ask the question in there. Or, you could ask a woman, they tend to know everything!

Happened to me a load of times on our auto trail, took the lock apart and had to fix the mechanism by replacing a rivet.

I have that problem with a Compass Castaway. I did take the lock apart and fixed it, by renewing a spring, but I still finds it happens intermittently, so I always open the drivers door if I am just going in and out of camper, just in case I forget the keys. I found that if on opening the locked door you have to ensure that the key is straight when you withdraw it so that the lock barrel is straight as you extract the key. Not sure if that clears!,

Not a good situation if you have internal dead locks on the drivers and passengers doors :'(

Thanks lads - I think I will take the easy way out and use a spare key. Who knows I might get a chance to strip the lock but I have a few wee jobs before then. Once again many thanks. :D
