Didnt get a reminder either. Renewed mine today by phone. Someone else was renewing at the same time and I had to wait for them to finish with the card machine. (11.05, was it you lol)

So, how does one enter the Rostrevor/Kilbroney TITT? The DAERA maps are useless and we can't find a way in on Google maps, except perhaps off Newtown Road up in the village by Kilbroney kennels. There's a swing barrier there which looks like it could be the way in but the DAERA info suggests the entrance is via the main forest entrance off the A2. That looks impossible because of the one-way system that we're very familiar with. Don't want to turn up to find the campsite closed with no staff to question. Thanks in advance

Hopefully someone with more recent experience will answer, but when we did touring in the trees (many years ago) the entrance was by a forest road at the top end of the council caravan site. This was the North east corner and I think the highest point on the council site.

That's it. You drive in the main caravan site. The key card for the barrier is in a small box on the wall. Your key will unlock it. Drive through and put it back in the box. Then drive to the top of the site. You will see a 5 bar gate with a very faded TITTS sign. Through the gate, up the lane and the entrance is on the left. When you get to that stage you will be having second thoughts. The lane down to the site is very tight, as is the site itself. But I can do it with 7.3m. Great place and I have never met any one else there. There is water but you need to use the black waste behind the toilet block on the main site. When leaving the attendant always opens the barrier when we ask.

Just did a recount from my journey app and tonight is my 90th night. So working out at 2.00 per night. I have paid next year's member ship but am worried I might not get the value out of it lol.

Safe to say Touring in the trees is home from home for you, Youll be changing your user name to Tarzan next and loooking a reg TT1 TTS .
Great you so so much use out of it .
It was only 90 out off my 165 nights in the van in a year, but this year excluding festivals and free parking, I only paid for 8 nights on campsites. And most of them were meets so certainly worth the money spent. Now checking the price of the number plate lol.

Thanks to you all for the tips - the nice gentleman at the reception explained almost word for word what you've explained and opened the electric barrier for us on the way in. The only hiccup on the way out was the key appeared to not open the black box, but the lady in reception opened the electric barrier for us. Hopefully the key just needed a bit of a wriggle.
Anyhow, the site was great - we had it to ourselves, unsurprisingly, and we enjoyed a lovely ramble through the forest and down along the river. Son and dog had a great time splashing around in the rivers. Already looking forward to next weekend's TITT visit! Thanks again to you all for the encouragement and advice on TITTS!

Decisons, decisons! Been to Castlwellan and Rostrevor TITTS and both were excellent. Now trying to wuickly decide which one to visit today and tomorrow! I see the forest drive at Ballypatrick has reopened but as we've visoted the Antrim coast twice in the last week, we might head west instead. Maybe Drum Manor for lots of walks...
Hope you all have a great weekend, seeing as the sun is out!

I was there every weekend so far this year with exception of this and last weekend. No-one else staying any of those weekends. Drum Manor is a great spot

It was gorgeous even in the drizzle this morning. Group of lads came through doing some training after 9am and a few dog walkers, all pleasant! The site was tidy and we didn't see any evidence of lazy, selfish dog owners. We will definitely be back. It's a great spot for touring the south Sperrins - we'd a lovely day cycling and walking around the woods at An Creagan centre...also a great spot for a reviving cuppa and some nice sweet sticky treats in the little restaurant.

The car park in Gosford has nothing to do with titts, completely different places. Looks like the council have cocked up, again. On a more positive point, I was told on Saturday by a local donaghadee resident, the council are definitely going ahead with the former bus station for an Aires complete with services.

I wish it were true. But nothing, that I have heard, points to that.

Got mine last week, I'm down on visits by 12 nights this year because of moving house and alko torsion bar issue. It still works out at £2.00 per night compared to last years £1.80. Great value and great freedom, the air tastes so much better in a forest. lol
Well that's us finished with TiTTs, our favourite and closest one...
Dear Ally,
I am sorry to inform you that Forest Service has no plans to reopen Ballyboley Forest caravan site, as the problem affecting the private water supply has not been resolved. I appreciate that you have a self-contained motorhome; however, this would not necessarily be the case for everyone who might wish to use this site.
Yours sincerely,
Mark&Wendy

I had planned not to renew it but Wendy decided that we will. Just couldn’t get an answer on the phone today. I’ll try again tomorrow and post it off if necessary. Still 9 sites available and we only used 6 of those last year. The only one that’s ever busy is Castlewellan and that’s only at the weekends.

We use it more on the darker nights, that's why Ballyboley suited us, short drive on a Friday evening. All the others are to far away and there is Motorhome parking that is closer.
We don't have time in the summer too use them as we have a lot of other things planned.
