Last night we stayed at Brandon Point Castlegregory , the view was fantastic , and with great hill walking Mr Bizz was really happy .i don't think it's on the poi list .To day we took the ferry across to Tarbert and had a look at Kilkee but it wasn't for us it was just too busy . We moved on to Doonbeg and just by chance we came across Strandcamping , (they are on the MHCwebsite ).what a wee gem .Jamie & Amanda are so friendly and can't do enough to help you ,on just mentioning how dirty the van had got we were supplied with all the tools to wash it .Although we don't use campsites often this is one we can't wait to come back to. For only €9 each we are all fully refreshed after great showers ,the best thing about it we are only 10mts from the beach and 5 mins from the town. We are now sitting in the sunshine with a glass of wine , BBQ ready for the steaks and Bizz asleep after his walk on the beach . I really can't believe we only have 5 more sleeps and our months trip is over .Emily John & Bizz

John, Emily and Bizz it was a pleasure to meet you Yesterday, although I had a sore head this morning but in fairness that could have been down to how much I had to drink when out with some friends prior to getting back to the campsite and accepting your night cap. I hope you enjoy the rest of your month on the road. Amanda and I were very jealous at the thought of a month away in our van touring Ireland.
All the best Jamie.

John and Emily I can see you selling up and going full time. John making his keep singing and you selling wine outside the van by the glass as he sings. Glad you are having a great time.

Jack , we could be tempted what a life , only problem would be making appointments to have my nails done especially when you don't know where you are going to be lol.

Now that is what I call a good idea and I can do without selling the wine and just drink it all myself

Emily us girls have our standards! The men would not appreciate it if we let ourselves go. Nice nails are essential in mind. ;-)
If John is any good after his course let me know and I will make an appointment at the next meet!

Shiv I see you are as bad as the rest of them. I can't understand why I never have any problem with my nails and Liz pays a fortune to have here's done.

Tonight we are in Roosky ,the singing future manicurist sang his heart out with the owner of the little site we are on . As we sit here we can't help thinking this would be a great place for a MHC meet . It is just a short walk over the bridge to the pub which has a Chinese Resturant joined on to it . This is another little gem . We are still sitting outside with a little G & T and not wanting the night to end as we only have 3 more sleeps and then it's back home .

If it's the rooskey that I'm thinking of jack it's on the borders of south Leitrim,Roscommon, and Longford if I'm not mistaken,

Flans loughrynn site is not too far (probably 15 mins) if you need to get a site to charge battery's empty cassette etc it's on the drumlish road out of mohill,
See the review section for more details,

Yes, Roosky is on the river between Carrick on Shannon and Longford. There is a POI which is fine beside the Centra, but there is some coming and going of vehicles etc. we arrived and Ciaron waved us in to a small CL which is €10 per night and €2 for all day electric which we didn't need as the solar panel is sparking in this heat! The Centra has a butchers, off license and ATM , across the bridge which elevates for passing boats are 2 pubs one is attached to a lovely Chinese. You can eat in the pub or takeaway which we are doing tonight. The site is gated and you get the padlock code from Ciaron who is a mean guitarist and singer at the drop of a hat. Got a well deserved haircut at Eileen's for €9 including wash & great chat. There is a public toilet block, very clean to empty the pot. This would be a great place for a meet for about 10 vans. We love it and are staying 2 nights there is a nice walk along to the lock nice and safe for Bizz. Ciaron is happy to have a MHC meet here . I will get some pics posted when I can. Also there are big bins. We have already planned next year to include Roosky! Also 3k from here is Dromod for Ireland waterways showers etc, get the wee card for €7 which has 10 credits, 2 units for a great shower . Also a nice wee village, and you also have Drumsna POI a few miles on towards Carrick on Shannon.
The Flans including Bizz, woof!

Emily how does one meet Ciaron as we might go that way on our way back from Cork in August. Would we need to book?

Jack, no I don't think you would need to book but his number, in case he is out as he runs a business, is, 071-9638355, & 086-8054933. We just had I would say the best Chinese for a long long time from the Weir Lodge Bar, fresh chopped vegetables & lovely big prawns etc. A word of warning, only order one main and an extra fried rice as we were struggling after sharing a rib starter & Emily's king prawn with scallions & ginger. Somehow we made a dent in my special chow mein, ( Bizz helped clear up). The site is not easy to see but if you come in from the big road over the bridge, turn left at the Centra, there is a BIG shed looking at you and a 5 bar gate beside the bins, you should see the Rooskey Gift & Tackle shop which Ciaron runs, if not there open the second gate & help yourself to the site. He will dander up to you when he comes back, so laid back! Don't bypass it, a cracker safe and quiet place.
All the best from The Flans inc Mr Bizz

It was on our route up home & we were heading for Dromod for the showers, decided to turn and look at the POI at Rooskey, which is a spacious car park beside the Centra, Ciaron waved us in & we went in to have a look and stayed for 2 days. Loads of room and a lovely quiet place.

Sounds like you all had a great trip and found some fab places too. Glad you had great weather for the month and great travels. How is John's hand has it fully healed? Don't think he should really go at the nail remover until it has fully healed up!
