Just saw a picture on Facebook of new height barriers going up at Portballintrae car park. Not surprising if reports are true of folk staying all weekend with chairs etc out. I’ve never stayed over myself but would have called in for an hour or so early in the morning before it got busy. That’s why I have to get my wife to take the car separately when we go to the North Coast. There are less and less places you can stop to visit in a high vehicle.

There have been signs up about no overnighting for a long time, while it’s a nice spot for a short visit I never stayed over as it was always busy with cars and the car park was definitely not designed with motorhomes in mind

Portrush temporary aire is open again.
It's the one halfway between Portrush & Portstewart between Carrick Dhu & Juniper Hill
Probably timed for tye NW200.
Hopefully it will remain open over the summer.
There were a couple of caravans parked up
I hope that's not going to be the norm.

Arthur that is not an Aires at the minute,it is official parking for the NW200 and has to be booked.
Prices range between £300 and £370 for the week and cannot be booked for any less days, the council may keep it open after the races for an Aires but no information on that as yet.
The Aires in Portrush is bunged today with motorhomes parked everywhere.

I wasn't aware of that Norman. Thanks.
I was driving past & noticed it in use.
I was past it a couple of days earlier & the gate was closed & it was empty.
Still laid out as it was last year & a motorhome parking sign on the gate.
Fingers crossed🤞

Keep them crossed, from what I herd it’s going to a full meeting in the next couple of weeks, to decide weather to allocate a section of it to Motorhomes perminantly

In the carpark if there is no barriers, just because else someone, broke the laws, doesn't mean you can't park your big white leagel van. 😁

The one ops the dolphin chip shop could have easy held 10 vans and at the bottom end are well away from houses, better vans in there than the burnout folk in sporty noisy cars doing doughnuts.

I’m in the area this weekend but have not seen any signs up suggesting it will open and certainly no Motorhomes or anything that looks like it will be opening up to vans. Just a few folk exercising dogs in it today.

The existing Aire seems to be always fairly full but not nearly the same volume of vans parked in the usual free areas. A lot less cars and people about in general mind you.

Well that’s good as it might make Portrush realise there’s other places that welcome motorhomes and others with open arms to spend their hard earned cash.

Here here Jack, that council area must have a vehicle for every employee to drive around and put up height barriers,no camping signs ,motorhomes prohibited signs, so when that business is lost to other destinations it is their loss.
Our wheels will keep turning towards those that welcome us.👍

Drove past the new Aire Saturday morning just 2 motorhomes on it.
Surprised as last year it was half full by now.

Billy you may be mixing the new CL at the primary school with the Portrush Aires.
There is no new Aires in Portrush at this time as the Muppets who run that organisation would not see an opportunity if it hit them in the face.

I was past the old seasonal stopover on the coast road between Portrush and Portstewart this evening and it is all staked out with tall wooden posts and a sign like before saying seasonal motorhome stopover. Totally empty though. It’s the big field on your left as you head towards Portstewart.

I swung by the normal Portrush Aires and there were 2 spaces out of 10 free but 2 vans parked outside it. I saw about 14 parked in the Ramore head car park area.

Pleasant surprise to run into fellow craicers Tommy and Ann for the first time today. 👍

I'm in portrush p school ( not the Aire one ) with NIDA for 3 weeks. There was 2 vans in the Aire next to Inn on the coast restaurant on Sat. It's all marked out with fencing posts same as last year. Water tap and elsan point.

Hi all,
I have just checked with the council and they said that this site was a 28 day pop up. It is believed that it's now moved to the 'bowl'. Is this off Causeway Street?

It was Causeway Street last year.

They're certainly sticking to the caravan act 28 day rule, instead of having some sense and changing the by-laws 🤦

Here's a little crumb, come get it pilgrim.

Not sure TBH, our Club has its own parking in Portrush and Portstewart so never used it, but I'm sure someone will advise shortly.

If using the Bowl use the parking meter across the road at the official Aires.

I think the temporary aire was set up at Carrick Dhu Caravan Park this year. Saw the sign walking past in July.
