Anybody have any suggestions on how to clean the black that is ground into the Luton,

I have tried various polishes to no avail,

I don't want to do any damage so best to ask,

Silky will do the trick.
It is hard work and only cleans the marks off. You must polish it straight after.

BTW wear gloves first time I used it I got rid of my finger prints.
