eirebus - from where? I don't you are mistaking. I'm at Shanogue as I'm in the hospital in the morning and wanted to get the van back there to stop these early morning runs from Killyleagh. I've just looked out and I only see a caravan in Shanogue.

eirebus sorry to have missed it all although part of me is glad. My computer ran out of power and i didn't have the charger with me and I was away early this morning to the hospital. Hope you had a good time and glad they let you out of jail. Also I'm glad the Solar panel is still on mine. it sure was a rough night as I was rocked over to sleep.

Lovely sunny morning so went out to open it up for a airing, Big sliding door, both back doors and fully opened roof vent.
One hour later we had a great storm but with vengeance not rain but a hailstone storm, of course didn't notice it at first, watching "Last of the Summer Wine" and having lunch. Luckily had the seats covered with throws so most ok but carpets are drying out. they were covered to a good half an inch of ice-stones so had to sweep them out and then dried off all the woodwork with towels.
Good luck is that it was mostly sunny otherwise.

What has the south of England done to deserve this sort of weather.

I bought an astro turf type cover for the step! Black how exciting is that. I also have the DOE on the 4th and am nearly sure I will need two new tyres. I am glad to report no hail stones that is a bummer!

Milly got through her DOE on Wednesday so I bought her a lovely cover for her step
My doggy bag arrived and was too small so I had to return it to Muddypaws for a bigger size.

CRW next Monday. So I bought two bulbs for the number plate lights. Well, they had pointed out these to me at the last CRW, two years ago, so I figured I better not go in without having replaced them!

Will be worth it if it passes ...whats is CRW? Do you do it differently up in the West?
The nice guy told me my brakes are too hard but still passed me - but I must get that sorted.

If you don't have all lights working and the right shade of yellow (indicators) and lettering on number plate black enough you will fail like me, and pay for a retest

CRW is Certificate of Road Worthiness i.e. what you hope you get when your test is complete. The test itself, I believe, is called the CVRT (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test).
DOE simply stood for Department of the Environment which was the body that originally introduced commercial vehicle testing. The test became known as the Department of the Environment Test or simply DOE. And the test centres became known as DOE test centres. Later the network of these centres became known as the Vehicle Testing Network (VTN). Of course they only do commercial vehicles so eventually they were rebranded as Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test Operators (CVRTO). Campers are not commercials but they are typically build on a commercial base so therefore it makes sense for them to be tested by a CVRTO.
Now since A) there is no longer a Department of the Environment (it is now Environment, Community and Local Government) and B) said department no longer has responsibility for commercial vehicle testing it doesn't really make sense to refer to the test as the DOE. (Hope you are keeping up down the back!)
TL;DR you bring your vehicle to a CVRTO to do a CVRT and hopefully get a CRW.

Lights working is fair enough. But what exactly constitutes the right shade of yellow? Mine are amber bulbs as opposed to white bulbs with an amber/yellow lens.

On my van the bulbs are painted yellow/amber, after sometime the paint flaked off, the lenses are clear, the black paint on lettering on the number plate had also faded so new plates had to be purchased.

But we dont have the "DOE" or "TEST" we have a MOT so do we get fined for not using that as the correct term
