I don't know how much power it uses, but I recall the hab lights would dim a fair bit when you'd switch it to full chatt, so yeah, its a hungry one.

Changing over to one of those Chinese diesel heater is probably on the cards. Or maybe something like the you have installed.

Kevin. I would think the noise is no greater then the 2nd position on my car heater .and from the outside the noise from the exhaust would hardly be heard from the front on the van.
Ally,s may be a little louder as it has a stronger fan.

Just make sure you don't block the heat outlet in any way as it will cause internal problems to the circuit board sensors,they are expensive to replace. Mine has no filter attached to the inlet duct,never crossed my mind to fit one but now that it's been mentioned I may get one fitted for peace of mind.

Same here. RockAuto is my go-to site, but I always compare prices against Summit Racing, Jegs, eBay & Amazon.
RockAuto have a good parts lookup section. Just enter your vehicle particulars in to the parts catalog and this narrows down your parts search.
Once you get the correct Manufacturers Part Number (from RockAuto), you can put that part number into the other sites.
7 times out of 10 I get my stuff from RockAuto.
I'd avoid the UK specialists unless you're badly stuck. I haven't found one able to supply parts cheaper than ordering the parts directly from the US myself.
Out of curiosity Andy, what size tyres do you have on your chevy?

We found that each half of stainless steel tea strainer fitted perfectly over our inlet and outlet.

Sourced in a local pound shop! :lol:

Second outing, Fahan. Brilliant spot, great food in the Firebox grill.

One teething problem, the water drain for the Suburban Water heater was leaking on our first trip. I ordered a new one but it hadn't came by Friday so I sealed it up with CT1.

As I was waiting on SWMBO in the petrol station and chatting to TommyS from MHC (great to meet you Tommy, sorry I was a bit pre occupied!) - I had put the water heater on and forgot about it, unfortunately the stat doesn't switch it off and it boils until it blows out the safety valve!! all outside lucky enough.

I was wondering why three guys in the van were taking a few extra looks.

New drain valve was there when we got home and now fitted with no leaks, I just need to work out the Stat situation, but I can time it until that's sorted, how many minutes to boil and switch it of before that. Anyone worked on a Suburban water heater? Plenty of videos on the net but not of this one.

Our trip, we got our photos taken, we got waved at by people on the street and we got video'd by a passing car! :o - it must be a strange looking thing on Irish roads :)

Looks like a Lovely spot. Hopefully you sort out your heater. Looks like its just a case of sitting and timing it.
We are off to annagassan this Friday fishing, Oonagh (the daughter) takes it the week after that to curracloe, and the week after that we are off to Donegal. Then into storage till we need it.
Dont forget to let me know about the tea strainer if you need it.

Fridge Saga:

There is a 3-way switch between freezer and fridge:

1. Normal
2. Off.
3. High Humidity (would be called High Heat here)

It only worked on High Humidity, discovered that a wire was on the wrong place, so we can only assume that it came of whilst moving and someone put it back wrong.

High Humidity setting only uses one heating element, normal uses two. It was only getting to 45 degree's before so not hot enough, switch has been rewired and its now on test, but it went up to 51 degree's so far - fingers crossed :)

It needs to get to 60, the "fridge guy" has lent me an infra red heat monitor that I am using to check it.

Hope you get it going. Don’t depend on getting mine anytime soon. New one not arriving into Ireland until the middle of October 😫. So will probably be near November before I get it fitted. Not that I’m reall waiting for it. Still perfect on gas and 12 volt. Still just want it done, now.

Now I'm going to bore you all to death, if I haven't already.

I tested it and it was 55.4, so decided to check the freezer, was 23. Left it 10 minutes, freezer was 17! - check the heating element and it was 39. So it cycled! which it is meant to do and it wasn't doing - fingers crossed. I promise to keep you updated :lol:

Yeah. I thought about leaving it, but most”experts” are saying that’s the start of it. Could be ok on other 2 power sources for 6 months or 3 years, but another power source will fail, and then the other. Nothing can be done to fix them. Bad design from the start. Maynooth Motorhomes said they had about 10 of them there removed from MH.
So I said feck it, for the piece of mind, especially if you were out foreign and it died, it could ruin a holiday that cost as much as the fridge, how would I keep the beer cold 😱
