What Rock has Mr. Jerry Brennan from SIPTU and his buddies been living under?, STIFCo. pulled that stunt with Government and Union approval on the last sailing of the St Patrick 11 into Rosslare in September 1997.
Stable doors come to mind.

Best of luck Steven, enjoy the trip where are you heading to, are you on a long or short sea journey? I think you may very well be the first Craicer to experience the new ship

You may be lucky the Sea area forecast for tomorrow is. decreasing to moderate on Saturday.
On a big ship that won't really affect it

A mate send me a photo of food menu.
€49.99 for 3 courses, nearly a tenner dearer than older boats .
I suppose, someone has to pay for a new boat.

Heard the same rumours.
Also issues with the amount of storage allocated to housekeeping and kitchen/ bar etc.
Seemingly there are suppose to carry enough of food, housekeeping supplies for extra days, if they are stuck at sea .
I believe that they have lashed down a few containers onto the deck as a short term solution.

We're another family that doesn't mind Dublin. Though we enjoyed making the most of the drive down to Rosslare by heading down the evening before we sailed and staying in Curracloe. Meant we enjoyed a morning on the beach with the kids to wear them out before an easy half hour drive to the ferry and no packing stress.

Coming from the top part of the country I prefer Dublin, the Rosslare drive added an extra hundred miles each way on.

Don't mind travelling from Dublin as it's less mileage for me but I would also like to see rosslare sailings back on for those who don't find the Dublin route convenient.

Tbh. It’s not even about the convenience, though that is definitely a big plus, it’s more about big companies selling out rural areas for a quick buck, and the big cities just accepting this sudden “handiness” as a god given right, and not even a thought for the small communities which are losing one of the few revenue sources that they have. IMO most big city people don’t give a single thought... or maybe they just don’t give a shite, about anything or anybody but themselves

There was a 40 min delay on the quays last week heading for the docks that would have taken me half way to Rosslare and I live 41 km from the port, even now at this time its a 50min drive to the port.
Rosslare is only 1.1/2 hours
( 90min )123km.

My gripe with this whole affair is the blatant price increases being passed on to the customer.
Rosslare route was up to 30% cheaper than the current routes offered.

I'm travelling BF from Cork for the first time in 15 years.
Taking into account the toll and diesel costs of a return trip to Dublin Port plus the hassle of the drive, Ringaskiddy is now a no brainer for me. It is also a much shorter sea crossing.

For me going out in May and returning in October IF was €106 cheaper than BF, but tolls and diesel to/from Dublin would be in the region of €100, so for €6 I opted for BF.

Arrived today in Cherbourg on the Stena ferry, docked beside the WB and it doesn't look much bigger than the Stena, its taller ie more decks and slightly longer but I didn't think there was much real difference IMO

It takes twice the passengers and Six times as many car and has four times as many cabins. It must be larger or some kind of TARDIS.

On WB Yeats at moment for crossing from Dublin on Monday afternoon to Cherbourg.

Arrived at check in just after 3pm, short queue no more than 5 vehicles in queue at each booth.

Parking area after check in virtually full.

Boarding started around 3:40. deck 3 is double height for lorries, deck 5 is also double height for coaches, motorhomes etc. There is also a deck 7. Ramp from parking area had a couple of sharp inclines just prior to going onto boat with signs of people having bottomed out. Left about half an hour late and looks like an hour late into Cherbourg.

We booked late so could only get a 4 berth club class cabin for the two of us. It appears to be exactly the same as a standard cabin, the only difference being access to the club class lounge. The cabins are smaller than on the Oscar Wilde. When we entered the cabin all four bunks were down, the centre aisle is very narrow even approaching claustrophobic. One of the lower level bunks is at a higher level (about butt level) as it comes down on top of a settee. This means that the head room to the upper bunk at that side is low, not enough room to sit up in bed. It is possible to put the upper bunks right up to the ceiling so this gives a more open space. The beds are more Comfortable than the Oscar Wilde and the bedding is better quality (maybe just because it is newer)

The benefit of the club class cabin is that there is access to the club class lounge which is at the bow with panoramic views. There is also free tea/coffee/soft drinks and snacks for the duration of the voyage. There is also free WiFi available in the lounge ( which works reasonably well). There is no WiFi in the cabins and the WiFi (different log in) available in public areas is poor to unusable. The lounge was quiet and no more than about 20% occupied anytime we were in it.

The whole of deck 10 is made up of sitting and eating/drinking areas with very little segregation. There are transit areas through the cafe areas and also through the so called quiet lounge. The whole area was busy and relatively noisy.

All in all I would say more comfortable in club class, more crowded and noisy in cattle class compared to the Oscar Wilde.

Took 3/4 hour to get off and another 1/4 hour to get through passport control. We were virtually last off but even so it was painfully slow. 1315 before we were on the road.

Forgot to mention earlier if you want EHU then you need to ask at the check in booth. They give you a card to put in the windscreen so that the crew see it and position you on board to suit. The chap in the booth said there were 50 hook up points. We were located on deck 5 on the LHS of the ship on the outside. There were 3 way hook up outlets every 20m or so the whole way along that side of the ship.

They must be under pressure to fill the extra capacity of WB Yeats.
https://www.irishferries.com/i…al-offers/
Another flash sale of 15% discount for sailings in the next few weeks.
A reasonably selection of cabins available as well.

Talked to a couple that used it when we were in Spain. They were seriously underwhelmed. They said they will either go cork next time, or preferably Stena Rosslare if available

I've been looking at changing our booking but the Mrs wants to bring the dog and there's no kennel spaces left and IF don't let pets travel in the van on Ireland France sailings.

I finally got an acknowledgement that from Irish Ferries today that I was entitled to compensation for them not being able to fulfil the booking as booked back in 2018. They've offered me 11c per km for the extra journey to Rosslare and want evidence of accommodation costs for the extra night, nearly 4 years later.

Trust me, I've made my point in reply. I had booked before the WB Yeats bookings had opened that year and changed the booking when it did open. What I really want is a refund of the extra I paid at that time and I don't think it's unreasonable. I also have a credit card record of the last night campsite, so I expect them to honour that too. It's a huge amount of progress after nearly 4 years that any delay in the delivery of the ship was between them and the shipyard and nothing to do with my booking which they happily took at the time.
