Had my bus in for CVRT yesterday and failed...

Fail refusal - Number Plate Light (my own fault, checked the headlights, tail lights indicators, side marker lights, etc... but not the number plate lights)
Fail refusal - Wipers (got well worked at the weekend, no problem clearing the windscreen but hey ho)

Advisory - front brake pads

I'll get it back in before the end of the week and I'm good for another year. Tester did remark that it is in good shape underneath, really need to get up to Ally to make sure it stays that way :)

Trying to work out when with work and school holidays etc... Might almost be easier to drop it up to you one weekend and collect it the following weekend in the next month or so. The puppies have complicated things because it makes heading into Belfast for the day a bit trickier.

Doing "improvements" takes for ever these days but over the past few weeks when not damp
1. Wired in 12v LED strip light into the wardrobe with external lighted switch
2. Wired in 2 12v LED strip lights into what I call the boot.
Took me a few tries to decide how to switch these so that i could not leave them on, finally sorted, the original rear door retainers had been removed due to design of conversion so I had fitted giant Stainless steel hook and eyes to hold the doors open, so took the earth wire to where I had bolted the hook to the furniture back so when hooked to the eye fixed on rear door circuit complete lights on, shut the rear doors circuit broken lights out
3. New external gas/bbq point fitted to rear panel, changed 3 point gas manifold for a 4 point one (Yes this did mean couldn't shut door so had to move whole lot back further behind cooker, had to dismantle most of the furniture down one side to route the 3 or so metres of copper pipe and finally drill a 60mm hole in the side of the van o.O Still all good just need it testing now and then I can put the van back together.

Have some other "improvements" in mind and will let you know when I get round to them.
Maureen says she thinks I enjoy "messing about with the van" more than using it :fgrin: you know she might just be right.

Our new motorhome came with central locking which includes the habitation door. Fiat ducato based Burstner. But only came with one zapper key. Investigated getting second key and was told it would cost about €250. But could get an alarm fitted for €300 which included 2 zappers. Got it fitted, works well, but because the habitation door has a dead lock, the alarm zapper does not unlock dead lock and so have to enter by cab doors or use original key. Also if you lock doors using zapper key, you can’t unlock habitation door using Burstner key as it does not unlock dead lock. What a pain.

Finished the installation of my 3oo watt solar...everything working as it should...just need to tidy cables and it's done!

Put a whole new set of threads on,even replaced the spare which had a manufacture date of 2001and was never on the road, it still had all the mould grip hairs all over the surface .
So much for the age failure on tyres the spare was never mentioned.

Bought the controller off Ally.....It's exactly the same one I had in my last van and found it good and reliable. There are lots of mppt controllers to choose from on ebay....It just so happened I was in the right place at the right time and snagged a bargain from Ally :D

Pat..on the front edge of panel it has brackets running the complete width..has of course its 4 corner brackets and also centre support brackets on the 2 shortest sides...all in there are 8 pretty decent brackets all glued down with sikaflex 252 ... just hope it doesn't get blown off...seems pretty solidly stuck when I did a tug test yesterday

Also...I drilled small holes in bracket feet before installing...my theory is it will greatly aid adhesion as the sikaflex came up through them as the panel got pressed down...there is a real good bed of the stuff...

You are singing John, The add appears to be gone now but when I saw it first I think they mentioned suitable for a shed so I pictured it with only corner brackets.
The holes to let the sticking stuff through is a great idea, by the way did you put corresponding ones on the roof🥴

Yeah..suitable for dwellings..motorhomes etc..fairly substantial aluminium surround..much thicker than my previous panels on last van. No holes drilled on roof... I nearly cried having to drill hole for cable entry..had to done though...that has a nice entry gland fitted and well stuck down also.

Great stuff Panda. How much you reckon the panel weighs at? (answering myself: Weight: 18.5 kg. Not too bad!) I'm at 3360 kg laden with full tanks with two passengers so need to be a bit careful and stop adding heavy equipment.

Myself this week. Fixing rust under the sliding door step and installing a new bottom roller. Can you believe that the roller on Sprinter has two separate electrical cables, and a bicycle type cable. And you need to disassemble the sliding door to get into one of the connectors. I'm really tempted cutting the cable and soldering the new roller on the old cable.

Replaced the 240V and 12V switches in the fridge. Not as challenging as a solar install 😄 but we all have to start somewhere 😄. Only blew one fuse while doing it too 😂

Just got my van back from the body shop. Had a dent in one of the barn doors fixed. Of coarse the dent spanned a couple of panels. I’m happy with the repair job.

So one of the barn doors is now shinier than the other as Panda told me it would be. I picked up an electric polisher from Aldi a couple of weeks back. I’m going to have to learn to use it now. It scares me to think the damage it could cause in the wrong hands.

Be very careful on the edges or any protruding parts Jason, might be best to use good old elbows grease and do those parts by hand.

Like my last post these photos came up in wrong order...

I noticed that the end of runner under the driver’s seat was a bit sharp/unfinished, easy to catch your ankle on it when moving from cab to the back. Yet there were end stops on the passenger seat.
We contacted the Fiat dealer we dealt with recently when MH went down for recall.
Received in post today, no charge.
Has anyone else noticed it on their seat?

Could you maybe tell them you have 14 seats the same. I’d definitely take a couple, as would many others😜
Seriously though, did you get them in a bag with a part number. They cannot be expensive and MH any people would willingly pay for them
