I was able to get a cheaper way to tether I took the sim @ 6.90 p/m with a add a personal hotspot for 5.00 and this allows tehering after 30 days with 1gb data. This is sufficent for my needs.

Sent to me by Stuarty - great news!!

Some good news

The tyranny of the roaming charge is slowly being chipped away.
Today, Three UK is adding a further five countries -- France, Switzerland, Israel, Finland and Norway -- to its Feel at Home deal,
giving customers travelling to those destinations the peace of mind that they can use their contract's standard minutes,
texts and data allowances without incurring further charges.

These new charge-free countries come in addition to the destinations already covered by Feel at Home:
USA, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Macau, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden,
Denmark and the Republic of Ireland. [Three]

I can't find this on the three website.

Looks like it will be 3 for me (once out of contract) if vodafone don't follow this example in the next 11 months

The EU is forcing all the providers to do it, Three are doing it freely, the rest will go kicking and screaming.

I have recently discovered that I am paying for my daughters 3 all you can eat contract which she isn't using. She changed her phone and network but there was an overlap in dates which expires just after our trip this year. I will be taking her 3 phone to use.

I don't suppose I can tether to it while roaming making it a hotspot while in France ?

You can if your phone allows it, unfortunately you are limited to 2gb of data. I have the mifi topped up and ready to go for the journey through France

It says somewhere on their site you are limited to 28gb when roaming.

I could have sworn it was two not 28 when I asked in the shop. On the phone itself it's all you can eat but I think there is a restriction when roaming, could you not put the sim into a tablet or mifi

Tethering outside Uk

Mark,
I've found out you can only tether within the Uk, I was advised by a sales advisor that I could tether in ROI and have it in a saved "chat transcript" and have been given a refund for the 3 months I had the add on for a hotspot which was the sole purpose of tethering in ROI.

They don't know you are tethering if you don't use a laptop. IE: use an Ipad, tablet etc

Worked for me so far.

Have you roaming turned off on the iPhone? Or can you get internet on iPhone whilst in south?

Roaming is turned on and can get internet on phone .3 have confirmed no tethering outside UK and have refunded my 3 months add on fee wich was for hotspot and I was informed it would work in ROI now saying that was a mistake.

I really can't see it.

Three have partner networks and also seem to be creating their own networks such as buying 02, be interesting to know how many people in Ireland North and South that have switched to three.

It's gotta be amazing for you in Spain.
