it would be i interesting to look at the expenses claims of thoes attending as they are all Government employees to see if we payed for their mileage and drinks and dinner.

Their expenses are unvouched, you'll never get that detail. They're likely claiming the maximum permitted, regardless of actual expenses incurred.

Guys I am probably diversifying but to put this into a realistic realm, I know of a tradesman who lost his job this week at a public service site.
As the safety officer entered the site this person was working 1m above ground level with no hand rail behind him,he was made aware of this by someone and he proceeded to put the handrail in place only to have been observed by this obnoxious know it all.
This good worker tonight has been fired for not obeying proper safety regulations.
Where is the justice?
