There is Eberspacher (sp?) are around £1200?

Also got to take into account that the diesel heaters don't heat your water so my comparison was for a propex gas heater and a chinese diesel heater.

A full truma system is at a guess over £2000?

Reading some forums there seems to be a few problems developing with the chinese heaters, but so far I haven't had any (touch wood)

Had hab check this week all O.K. except for CO2. Press the button and it tested good however engineer used gas to test and it didnt go off
This was fitted new 12 months ago when i bought the van not a cheapo but a Kidde
Apparently there have been quite a few cases like this hence the reason for now testing with gas and not just the button.
Have ordered a FireAngel with screen now

I think it's CO or Carbon Monoxide rather than CO2, (Carbon Dioxide).

Carbon Monoxide has an affinity for haemoglobin which prevents the uptake of oxygen and resultant asphyxiation.

Ups sorry folks yes it is carbon monoxide. They are now required by law (so he tells me) to let off a small canister of the stuff to test it and as I said when he did it didnt go off simply bleeped a couple of times so therefore a failure. so it would seem that pressing the button is a waste of time as it will always go off then.

Wrapped up the MH for a month or so.Busy for the next few weeks so won't be able to get away until mid to late Jan. This was a Ptotec cover made for my last MH a Transit/Hobby . Decided to keep it when trading in hoping it would fit the new one. Not a bad fit on the Ducato/ Burstner.

I think I may be getting confused with quote of quotes but my reading is you are cleaning a van which you owned before which now shows in your profile,

Somehow I may have misread things and yes Talbot Owners Club comes highly recommended

Correct, I found the van we loved all them years ago and purchased it, we always said "if we see another at the right time, we'll buy it" and a cracker came up :)

I have a similar story in that I started with a Talbot Express Autoquest and then at a meet I was shown around a Talbot Pilote 78mx and was blown away by the layout and just fell for it hook line and sinker and when it became available I just had to have it.
I’m unfamiliar with your model and layout so go on post a few photos!

Ahh the 78MX is a great van! we also had a later 2001 Galaxy25 i think it was.

This was the one we had years ago, 1990 Pilote 780S 2.5TD Talbot

 
 


This is the one we just bought... 1991 and it has a few extras, Air con and Air Ride Suepension

 
 


I have stuff to do to it but it's in amazing condition!!

A very tidy looking van, there is one similar on flea bay which has been relisted as it didn’t sell the first time around, it got no bids at a starting price of £750 but it’s a proper barn find with the interior in bits but the engine and gearbox if good would be worth more than that the way the Talbot market is running. I’ll see if I can get a link. I would take a crack at it myself but have the age old problem of space and storage.

That layout is the best we (for us) have ever had, our Galaxy 25 was the same layout but the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze. This one has huge room in the bathroom. 6 metres long, cheaper on the boat, handy to drive around and loads of social area. It really works for us, unfortunate thing is, you can't buy a newer van with that layout anymore, but then who would want one of those new vans ? :) To top it all of, a gas fire!!! no need for the battery draining blow heating :devil: It really is our ideal package.

Aye, most A-Classes are the same under bonnet, mechanics love them :o :lol:

I could buy a newer van but when you read through forums they appear to be a nightmare if anything plays up in that think of a price and multiply by 4 and we may repair it or put in a new part.

Really it’s hard to beat a fully mechanical van with a 3 way fridge and no computerisation to worry about

Out Itineo was made of Balsa wood and paper. The joy now of opening the lockers on the Pilote, solid wood, no noise or squeaks. If it goes wrong I'll fix it. Bought and paid for and after 12 months it will owe me nothing, after 13 months I'll start owing it. :D

Leisure batteries installed(properly), alternator rewired, gas bottles fitted but now need a new regulator to fit the gas-it bottles. Bulk head type, think my piping is also 10mm.

Drivers door removed, new frame installed and door refitted.

Now for a deep clean before putting our stuff in.
