Motorways /dual carriageways can be great getting to places faster, but it is nice to be on country roads, undulating scenic hills, even if everything rattles inside. until you are the width of your side of the road and the hedges are very close, and I was thinking how much you use your wing mirrors in a MH. BANG!!!!...Ouch...no verge...car coming opposite side, we hit a branch sticking out of hedge and clipped mirror. Fortunately it only smashed the plastic at back of mirror (bit like the way you hit an Easter egg to break the shell). We went back to look for the part. As it happened we were on the Newcastle to Banbridge road on way to LTS to see Simon and he had a replacement. Mind you those back roads after Dromore to LTS are even narrower and even with Sat Nav it took us on a long loop on roads we hadn't been on before despite being there twice before.

Talking about mirrors, we got a new windscreen fitted recently, a nice tidy job I thought until we tried closing the front Remus blinds and then discovered that the centre mirror is now fitted in a different position and stopping the blinds from closing. 🇧🇭

Started folks

in the past couple of weeks
done loads of bits and pieces
plus main jobs done
New Twin rearview?reversing and mirror monitor. It was whilst doing this I found out about how well the Autosleeper is built compared to the Tribute. It took me about 2 hours to get a cable thro internally on the Tribby easy with gaps in back sof cupboards etc. Not so with the Autosleeper everything fitted and I mean fitted took me two days to find the best route through
Wired in and fitted a second leisure Battery
undid all the bodges done previous.

Thanks for the heads up thats the cheapest price by quite a bit Donaghy's quoted me 183 euro.
I ordered mine today from quick fit in case the price goes up.

Changed the 240v dimmer switch in the MH, had to get it from the manufacture £45........shocking

Well, we had intended going to the Jazz Festival at Mount Stewart today, van loaded ready to go. The wife decided to pop into our elderly neighbours house to check on her, so while I was sitting in the van I popped the bonnet to check on a wee fault I had tried to fix. hopped out of van, closing the door only to hear the deadlocks arming when the door closed. dogs inside, mobile phones, wallet, house keys, and most importantly the van keys!!

managed to get into the house and a quick internet search revealed once the deadlocks have gone, there's no way in, the doors wont open enough to get a coathanger in. So after some contemplation about which window required smashing the most, some masking tape around the offending window and a swift hammer blow. I now need a new window!!

lesson learnt, time to invest in a spare key. hate to think if we'd been abroad or somewhere...

Nightmare. :( - dread to ask what window you broke? habitation or van?

Mine started locking itself on Saturday, done it 8 or 9 times, I messed around with the remote, not sure what I done but it stopped it. Better make sure I have my key son me when I leave the van. It's a fancy alarm system with perimeter sensors etc - it locks itself again if you accidentally unlock it in your pocket as long as a door hasn't been opened. Instructions might as well be in chinese.

front passenger window had been loose in it's runner for a long time, so decided to kill two birds with one stone. I can tighten the window in the runner when i'm fitting the new window!!

Talking about windows and not putting words in your mouth, would Dolmen cover it and if a habitation window broke will they cover it or is it only glass windows they cover?

So sorry to hear about your troubles.
I once put my little girl into her car seat in the back of a Volvo S60 dropped car keys, bag. phone onto the front passenger seat while doing so. Once I had her securely in her seat closed both doors walked around to get into the drivers seat and CLICK lock down it was 06.30am and I was on my own. I will never forget that sinking feeling as I looked in the back window at my little girl at the time she was about 20 months. I had to call my mum and who came around with a spare house key to get into the house to get the spare keys of the car. I have never got out of my car/camper since without the keys and never get in without the keys.
But keys still feature in my life as some here remember from Body & Soul a few years ago!
Awful when it happens and that awful feeling.

MOT'd for another year

Through the MOT for another year and 10 days early too :D

Was a bit more nervous this time as I had two scrutineers at the test centre :-|

Currently on a 100% 1st time MOT record with the Adria. It did have a quick check over but nothing needed. I stupidly left the handbrake on over winter but brakes all round still good.

Changed both the gearbox oil and the brake fluid. Now 10 years old so I think they were due.
Hope it helps the gearbox, I think it was getting a little stiff to change but maybe not.

Spent a couple of days trying different ideas and finally decided and fitted two new heater vents
one coming out on the step and one out of the small bench seat facing into the van. I have shortened the inlet pipe so that it now finishes under the floor near to its original position so this way it can still get all the air it needs but should stop the draught that direct connection to the vent caused

made a shelf right across garage floor about 8 inches up
whell ramps, chairs table etc now fits under it
stuff in garage sits on top of shelf
so no need to take stuff outta van to get at ramps etc.

was able to fit ends into runners across van for tying down, piece of ply and a centre support divides space up nicely

meant no holes put in van to support the runners lol

Like the idea of that, I'm lucky my garage is L Shaped, so chairs and levellers go into one bit and all the other stuff (crap) go in the other bit, but it does need tidied and that would be a good way of changing it.

Net curtain

Today I tried to remove the net curtain over the small window beside table.

The hooks are small and round like safety pins and difficult to unhook.

In other MH we could unscrew an end piece on rail and slide off, but both ends are tight up against an edge. There are two end curtains which are non functional, only decorative. The one hook I did manage to get out fell out of my hand and disappeared into an inaccessible narrow gap at the side of seat.

I bought a flat net curtain, the flat fancy type you see in France.
Even if I don't change them, existing will need to be washed.
Any suggestions?

Gave the new van a good wash and polish then sealed the whole exterior with another coat of polymer sealant. Treated the carpets and seats with fabric protection spray.

Today I assembled a Fiamma Carry Bike cycle rack and attached to rear of van,a bit fiddly but it's a good job. :up:

absolute bargins
Have taken off the croc clips soldered long cable on and put cigar lighter plugs on and as i have a van conversion stuck magnetic strip on the backs so that I now have decent lights for outside use, I just put them on the bodywork of the van, give a great light when using the awning, of course being me I had to fit two new sockets near the door to plug them in

may well change the two spot lights in "the kitchen" for these as well as this price cant go wrong

they look spot on! question.. could you "swap" the wiring for the kitchen lights in any van to replace them with these? If you spliced/split the cable and joined these in the circuit.. would it half the voltage? (wishing I paid more attention in physics!)

It will still be 12v no matter how many wires you take off and as long as the cable cantake it (and LEDs use so little so unlikely to be a problem)
