Sat waiting for it to be ready after an oil and filter change, so bought some goodies for it, a set of camper van mugs and a set of storage tins with camper and all over them, they were only £1.99 in home bargains

Bit boring I took out all the carpets and gave then all a wash. Now drip drying in my garage.
Also made a front cover for the passenger seat base out of a bit of Hardboard which I covered in carpet.

Had a trip to Scarborough in N.Yorks UK last weekend. Nice enough place but more "No Motor Caravan" parking signs than a pub has pint glasses, big curfew from 11pm to 7am anywhere near the front. Also couldn't find anywhere to park in Bridlington with height restrictions on all car parks.. Think the Vikings must have all had campers when they invaded that area??

At least the side door waited until I got home before dropping the bottom slider bearings!!

I cleaned the filter ( didnt know i had one )in the water pump ( Aqua 8 ) it was filthy and the difference to the water pressure is great , it was difficult to access but well worth it now

co ax cable had worn through where it passes through winding handle

stripped mechanism inside van
pulled sat dish and pole out
turned cable other way fed through pole and connected to dish
fitted dish again
fed cable through to sat finder
made new connection with F plug to connect

thought doing it that way and using existing plug was if there is a problem with my fitting of plug it is inside van and handy got at, not on dish where a strip out required again !!
thankfully original fitter had left a good three feet extra cable and neatly hid it behind sat box, maybe they predicted a break in cable and were future proofing !!

Give it the first clean of the year.

Removed the winter wax, hand washed from roof down, dried and polished it before finishing with the summer gloss coat.
Got the interior done too. A great day for it.

i have a dual action professional polishing machine and have done a detailing course and to be honest its actually easier and just as quick to do by hand

preparation is the secret not the fancy polish wax or sealer, of course the right products make a difference but if you dont clean it properly your wasting your time

mark seems to many to be spending too much time cleaning but one good prepared and cleaned then finished van is very very easy to clean as the dirt sits on a layer of properly adhered wax or polish, so one good clean then as many very quick cleans in the season as required is the way to go, ie as per marks regime.

Took more than a day
Designed Made and fitted a small dropdown shelf to use as a coffee table, from some offcuts of seat bases I had already replaced with slatted bases.
Well in fact I made 4 before I decided it looked OK
Made a additional stop point for the sliding door so it could be open halfway.

How did you make a stop for the sliding door. Does it lock into place too at the halfway point

Second point first. Decided NOT to have it lock at halfway but would be easy to do by making two and fixing them in opposite directions.
I just wanted to pull the door halfway and it not continuing to close as it always seem to. Also did not like the door stopping halfway and locking on opening for safety reasons.
Anyway the design was simple really I had some old white plastic window sill about 6-7mm thick.
cut two pieces about 40mm x 15mm and stuck these together. I made a wedge of this on the top piece only leaving about 10mm flat. The flat piece was drilled and countersunk. On the bottom runner track locate where you want the door to stop mark and drill pilot hole and screw. I used a size 12 self tapping screw for strength.
Guess you could use wood or alloy just as well but I had the plastic handy
Hope this makes sense

Had a lot of wind today (now now I mean the weather type before certain parties come on with comments) anyway it caught the door and slammed it shut and smashed my plastic stop so I have made another this time out of metal with my angle grinder.
I did make it slightly smaller this time so that if a slam occurs again the lock wil jump over the stop with the help of a rounded top but closed softly it will hold in place.

Also
Packed up the van off in the morning to the Southern Counties Motorhome show with 60s music in big tents all weekend happy to be going out after being House bound with gout for almost 6 weeks.

Good for you David,

May be the plastic stopper is the one to have if it just broke and didn't damage any of the door or lock mechanism, the mahal one may do damage,

Hope you enjoy the weekend

I hope you let it dry before you put it back in after washing it Masterman ... I believe the awning material will rot if its not completely dry when you rewind it.

Repaired the deep v shaped mess I put in the rear plastic bumper from when I caught (unseen) low wall. Used Milliput and it worked a treat. Four coats of some spray so that you can paint plastic 3 of undercoat 4 of Silver Top Coat and 4 of clear lacquer.
Biggest problem came when I refitted the bumper as I discovered that the next bottom panel must have been re-sprayed prior to me getting it and it didn't match so I had to paint this also.

As usual one job always makes another

bit the bullet and changed all 4 tyres today
Decided not to put campers and went for Bridgestone Commercial.

Interesting point was that Michelin Campers pressure recommended was 59 psi front and 65 rear with the Bridgestone they recommend only 50 so hopeing for a slightly softer ride.

Also replaced the damaged Thetford external toilet door. Simple job apart from getting all the old sealant off that took me over an hour as it was so thick. Took about 15 mins to fit new one.

I bought a external holder for the 2 toilet cassette it gets bolted underneath the hab area of the van. I'm getting professionally fitted this week. Did not want to risk doing it myself and having it fall off whilst driving, would not be nice for the vehicle behind, especially if it's full.
Roll on the winter, 10 weeks and counting :-)

Very productive and enjoyable day

Had solar panels fitted - sincere thanks to Flans Van and Ally for the help and advice

Bought a Mifi and a UK 3 SIM card for upcoming trip - disappointed to see I can't top up online as my credit card must be registered to a UK address. Another challenge to overcome

Lovely visit with Emily and John, thank you both so very much for everything x

Exterior washed (Chemical Guys Citrus) to remove all of the dirt and flies from a recent trip to France. Removal of fly squash took a while. Quick once over with a silica sealant to reinvigorate the water beading effect and tyres dressed. Back to pre-France condition :D

I said I would pay him and I am still waiting grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Removed the old through the roof pole from the van and fitted a new status 330 aerial,
Tested it with the usb Dvb-t device I got a few weeks back and it works
Tested the 2000watt invertor that I found under one of the seats it also worked.
That's every thing in the camper up and working
Now time to go find some gadgets
First on the list CD player with built in screen for a reversing camera
