Just been looking at position of W.B. and she will be soon in the English Channel ,She didnt dilly dally about today, I am sure the capt wont be hanging around the Dover straits in case he gets a few dozen channel surfers from Calais clinging to the back,

Not sure but I think it has to do with the Beam Height. W.B. Yeats Beam Height is 1.6 Mtrs higher than the berts in Rosslare.

The WB Yeats is calling to Rosslare, tomorrow at midday.
Probably a photo opportunity for Irish Ferries top brass, boarding for the last leg to Dublin.
The locals are fairly pissed off with Irish Ferries news that the Rosslare /France route is been abandoned for 2019.
Late tomorrow evening is the slot available to dock in Dublin Port.

Don't be surprised if the traders and dockers from Roscoff aren't in Cherbourg to block the port for the first inbound sailing of the W.B Yeat.

what are the chances of the ramp down to the port being blocked with Yellow vests? before their cars arrive?

Beam is width not height, so if the WBY is 800mm further out from the quay wall the ramps probably won't fit correctly into the locating lugs on the ferry deck.

She's south of Plymouth at the moment en route to Rosslare. Lying b******s, at 11:24 this morning I emailed them and asked if she'd be paying a courtesy visit to Rosslare, this is the answer I got back.

The F.I. w.b.Yates departed Cherbourg 17.30 ( 18.5 Irish time ) add 18.5 hours sailing time which should see her dock about
9 am today

Talk about rubbing it in, we are not going to sail out of here, but its good enough for us to lie alongside
When is its first fare-paying cruise?
It's probably cheaper for it to be moored in Rosslare then Dublin. There also may not be room for it
It wouldn't look good to have to anchor out in the roads because there is nowhere for it to moor until its first sailing

I have always travelled to Rosslare for sailings and never thought too much about it. As far as i was concerned, it was just part of the trip.

I tend to agree.
When I drive out the end of my drive I’m on holidays, if it’s Dublin then handier for me but if it’s Rosslare than I ain’t crying !..... in the scheme of things it isn’t any big deal.

Only in Rosslare for emergency Dock training 10% drop for Rosslare business, B&B, hotels pubs and supermarket trade and resulting loss of local jobs. Not to worry Shane Ross has just realised its happening so nothing will change

Cork (2nd. city) > Dublin 290 km Cork > Rosslare 210km
Limerick (3rd. city) > Dublin 215 km Limerick > Rosslare 195 km

AND, getting to Rosslare doesn't include having to use the M50 carpark

I have always travelled to Rosslare for sailings and never thought too much about it. As far as I was concerned, it was just part of the trip.

MR Google says greystones to Rosslare 1.1/2 hours. Greystones to the Dublin Ferry port 1hour 4 min on the m50 plus two tolls but he has never travelled on the M50 or the East link.
The best time over the last 6 runs to the airport during the afternoon/early evening for me was 1hour 20 min the longest time was 2. 1/4 hours on a Sunday afternoon
Also less time at sea shorter route to Roscoff. and for me a better place to start and finish my French holidays.

Fair comments all, and I totally agree about the M50, being one of those parked there regularly when im not on the bike. But for anyone travelling to Rosslare from the Northern direction, its the same problem.
My journey to Dublin port has just been reduced to about 45 mins from house to ferry, an hour at the most, so I wont be out protesting.

I think it’s fair enough to have the W.B sail from Dublin. But to ditch the Rosslare - France service doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense. That’s a lot of cars and haulers now heading for Dublin.

Apart from the obvious reasons of increased traffic on M50, loss of business to Rosslare etc., there is the issue of brexit. If we in the republic cannot ensure as much freight carrying capacity to mainland Europe , in lieu of what could be a prolonged deal, no deal, deal, no deal, tariffs etc. etc. going on for years, then what the hell are we at?

Wexford haulers, day they are in negotiations with other ferry operators about a service to Le harve, preferably. They state that Dublin will be a last option for them as it’s too slow(m50) expensive( extra mileage, and extra time)
2 hours drive up, with no delays then 3-4 hours sailing down again. The loss of tourism to the south east would be a major factor as well. The 15 million over 5 years is peanuts compared to what is being spent in Dublin and cork.

The wb yeats out of Dublin is quoting me nearly €1200 including 10% sale price, for same wagon, passengers and nearly exact dates as travelled in 2018.
2018 trip to france from Rosslare was less than €900.
That is 33% price increase, to experience a " more luxurious experience ".
As someone else quoted here, it is a roll on, roll off ferry that we want not a cruise ship.
IF, have also increased the hauliers prices for the wb yeats, hence why, they are roaring.

A little reminder for anyone with Pets..

We are delighted to welcome your family or assistance pet onboard our ships. Family pets must be pre-reserved and travel in kennels/cat boxes which are situated on the car deck. All dogs, cats and ferrets need a current pet passport. Check in is two hours before departure to allow time to verify the microchip and pet passport.

Fairly pricey at that.

Fully agree with Max max,if everybody decided to give them a miss for a while they would soon revise their prices.
Unfortunately in this country people make lots of noise but then just fall into the way of life unlike France where they make their feelings known.

Just for the sake of balancing the debate, the summer sailings out of Rosslare by IF was competitively priced about €200 less than other competitors serving french ports.
However, with recent events, IF have repriced their fares to where now there is only the price of a steak dinner between the 3 operators from the 3 Irish ports.
