I have a friend who buys Porto 6 direct from the Portugalvine yard.com. Lovely wine for under £4 plus delivery. Must check it out when we get to Cherbourg in September.

Am i missing something here? Checking out the prices on line in Freds wine shop and he dosent seem that cheap. Maybe "@sprinter" can enlighten me.

We found it brilliant too, best store by far with easy parking and out of town too. Excellent place.

We were in there on both ends of our trip. Great shop. Also decathlon is just a few minutes away. I also thought WBS slightly more expensive this year. Still bought there though and received 18 free bottles of wine at the till

Are you sure you are reading across the listing most prices are for case 0f 6 most of there wine is at least half of what you would pay here and some really nice wine between €5and €10 the best value I ever got was Fitou red for €13.60 saw the same here in a restaurant for €39.00.
You also need to do some tasting and get several cases of mixed to try

We found the auchan too expensive this year and opted instead to get our wine in the E,Leclerc Tourlaville in Cherbourg,they had great offers on the wine and beer,in fact i'm near sure it was cheaper than any other year,we got 5 litre boxes of Ardeche rose at around seven euro.

We always recommend to anyone coming on wine trips to consider It is unlikely that you will get the same brand label wine you buy at home you may get some other Country's wine you recognize. There are more different producer's in one area in France the you would see labels in the whole of Ireland.
In Bordeaux there are 6,000 wineries and vineyards make more than 9,000 different Bordeaux wines every vintage. With that in mind look at the Grape mix in what you like at home, ask the lads in the shop what they recommend at about half what you pay at home, don't be afraid to try stuff that's only a couple of euros,take away some to try,and if you like email them a couple of days before you go home and they will have it on a pallet waiting for you to collect.
Most important to try every other place you happen to come across on your trip. but be prepared to park up if you go tasting, one outlet could have 10 for you to try and I know one village with 7cavs on the main drag. in Ireland we consider it alcohol abuse to spit.

I just go to the supermarkets and watch what locals are buying. Lift a few bottles and move on. Havnt had a bad bottle in years but I don't have a refined palet

We try to use France Passion Vineyard and wine coops, we found a really nice one https://www.latucauderie.fr/ and call in every year its an Aire now takes about 6 vans with all the facilities and shower for € 5,free if you buy wine.

When you have got your wine,here is something else to go with it when you get home ,very handy to have a couple in the van cupboard. Great on a winter evening or a quick lunch.
Try a few when you're in France.

It’s fine, but. If you like Pinot Gris, they have a mcguigan that is delicious. I bought got 8 cases, and I’m down to two. Anyone with a bit of room “ yeah you Martin” I need more. At this rate I’ll be lucky to see valentines out

Met mark and wendy in was. On Martin's recommendation we got bottles to sample on our journey. Made a list and the girl was very helpful fulfilling our order. 10 bottles for 34 euro and 2 of them are ex cellent. Looming forward to saming the rest. In Roche st bernard for the night then heading further south

I was having a look at WBS Cherbourge website and they now stock Roche Mazet in 3ltr boxes, Merlot, Cab-Sauv, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. at €7.95 per box.

Called into WBS, Cherbourg on Monday, great coffee and advice from Chris. J P Chenet at €2.89 a bottle, a lovely Malbec called Demon Noire at €4.29 and others that seem great value. Brought 8 cases back, that'll do us for a bit

Wine in France not going to happen this year.
So based on saving the price of the Ferry €600 approx ) I'm going to approach a couple of wine suppliers If I spend around the same money I would in France + the €600 I think they will offer a a good deal.
What do you think, if about 10 of us got together with a pot of 10 / 15 k to spend.
Fred would give 10 or 15%.
what would get here? I know a lot less wine but its a one off?
Anyone interested or have an Friendly importer that might be go for a deal ?

What about trying the likes of The Wine Society in UK they will ship to an address close to Newry for collection and it could save having to pay a lot of duty!!!!!

Just as a matter of interest my Buddy put an order in of Porto 6. He was advised by the An Post who do the deliveries for DHL. that the customs had stopped the shipment, He then received a bill for 3.20 per bottle and upon paying it they let the shipment 30 bottles go trough this time, but advised him that they would not allow it to happen again. It would a[pear you need a license.
the final cost was €9.90.

I would think some people had a regular supply of more than 30 bottles coming in so it came to the notice of the customs.

What if you touted your bulk buy offer to a local wine shop here? Might they match 10% or15%?
