Jack, im not that organised, I just wanted to get the parts both whilst I still had wages and before the Christmas courier shutdown. As for doing the work, I take it out to my mates garage, he's a specialist American mechanic, and say I can't afford to pay him his rate and I will do it myself if he checks it. Two minutes after watching my effort and lack of ability and he jumps in and finishes the work. Works every time.

Where did you buy the stuff Paul?

I've been putting a shopping list together for our project and RockAuto seems to have the best prices & shipping rates so far...

Kevin, I nearly always buy from rock. The problem arises when there are multiple dispatch locations and the shipping ends up ridiculous, watch out for a logo of a lorry when searching for subsequent items after first item. This means it is coming from the same warehouse as the previous item, it usually worthwhile buying a more expensive part from the same location than paying the shipping from a second location. Also look for the union jack logo lorry on some items which rock source from the UK (maybe you have to select pay in sterling) which only have carriage from UK. I bought filters and plugs etc recently from UK. Rock also have a UK number to ring which connects to the states which works out cheaper. They are a great company and even with 1 damaged and 1 wrong item last year, they sent out replacement at no cost and let me keep the others which I have since used.

rock.

Those are great tips Paul, thanks for that!

Yeah, my first RA shopping list showed they'd dispatch from 6 different locations throughout the states! that'd be mental to have 6 separate shipments coming over. I'm now looking at consolidating the shipments through myUS.com to see if that brings the price of shipping down a bit. I'll try again on the rockauto site and see if I can get more stuff from the same location, good tip.

I have around 25 items to ship over and I need to get the price of shipping & duty as low as possible!

Nic Stratta at the Midlands club Kilbeggan ( caddalic wedding hire) does consolidated shipments. You could check if he has one coming soon

I use my stepson for a lot a spannering, even on the motorhome as he owns one himself, but really big jobs I use a commercial vehicle garage on the motorhome. Other things I do myself but know my limitations

Although Renault were sold in the states and rebadged Dodge, in the 80s and early 90s. Renault 5 and 18 were sold in the states without much success. Thinking about it commercial Renault must have been sold there also hence the Winniebego le sharo which is based on a Renault Master.

Changed one rear bulb, changed it again. Brake light still won't work.

MOT in the morning and I know it's going to fail on the brake light. :(

Time for an Auto Spark.

Why not run a wire across from the other side

Yes as John said you could run a wire across and use two of those blue scotch connectors and you would not need to cut any wires

Cheers guys I'll go out and do that.

To be honest I didn't want to again as I had already done it with the tail light on the same side, so something is going on that I need an Auto Spark to look at.

But thinking now, just run it roughly, even on the outside, if it's working they can't fail it and then get a spark to find out what's going on.

Took the TV aerial off of the roof of the motorhome as it was letting in water which in turn had tracked down to the side of the drivers window. Also took the drivers window out and resealed everything and fingers crossed the leak is no more!

Shiv. I was thinking about you last night while I was sitting down having a fabulous meal in the Farm gate Restaurant in Midleton. I must say you are a woman with great taste and thanks for the tip. We must hold a mini meet there when you are back on the road and it would be great if a few more joined us.
We only decided last minute yesterday evening to go away for the night and ended up in Midleton , There was only one other Motorhome parked in the Aire last night and we were the only Motorhome there the last time we visited the Town. Hopefully more people will support the Aires as It will be hard to get new ones if they are not used.
