In order to plan a journey/holiday price matters (to most) so why are prices not part of the information in this publication? Looking at many of the campsite's websites finding the nightly prices may still be mysterious. On finding them prices can be quite expensive eg Ferrybank Wexford €40 p/n, Renvyle Beach Galway €38 to name but two. My budget is €15,000–€20,000 absolute max, so I'm trying to find the best option within that range. A few questions: Are there any reliable models in this price range you'd recommend (or avoid)? Best places to buy in Ireland within this budget? Any must-have features or common pitfalls to watch out for? Thoughts on engine size and fuel efficiency for Irish roads? Would really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks in advance! --- This should get you some helpful responses. This was in January btw, which is only mildly important as it coincided with the escalation to snow and ice warnings  you can plan a pretty picnic and all that. We planned 5 days, heading from home to the Slieve Blooms, then south through the midlands to any of the many beaches in Waterford. Arriving in stop #1 at the trailhead for the barrow eco walk, set up, chilled out, ploughed on with a 1000 piece jigsaw, and snuggled up. Was I stingy with the diesel heater? Yes. There was frost on the inside windows when we woke  but that's character building.....! Did a beautiful 5k walk, admiring the falls, and manoeuvring many a fallen tree, we arrived back had brekkie and a coffee and a bit of time later we went to leave. The van struggled to start. Don't panic. Cold + glow plugs... All normal, turned the key again - and she sprung to life. Navigated the iced over car park and on … https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26224 Fri, 14 Feb 2025 12:31:54 +0000 Motorhome Chat https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26224 Looking for info Hi all. Broadband out, overhead cable is threaded through tree branches which brought it down. Fibrus ran the cable underground until they reached the trees then went overhead - probably cost saving at the time but the subsequent repair cost will negate that. Van shelter did a bit of swaying but remained intact. I was tempted to take the van out and park it in the open. Garden furniture store fell flat on its face - I had to take the roof off to get the furniture out in order to be able to right it! Better off than most. https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26197 Sun, 26 Jan 2025 12:23:55 +0000 Motorhome Chat https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26197 Well that was a storm!!! We were the first, some people didn't like that, Facebook groups are owned by Zuckerberg, let's not go there  Anyhow..... Let's move on and make these forums vibrant and full of information! Create new topics, reply to posts, don't be shy! Our information isn't locked in a closed facepuke group. So let's do what we did before, stay being best. Motorhome Craic, where it all began. Its time to renew my insurance for this year and wondering if I will have any issue with the fact that my van is now separate to where I live? I know some people store their campers for the winter in a different location than where they live. Will I have issues getting insurance this year or am I over-worrying? A man (40s) whose body was found in a camper van on Sunday in Co Kilkenny may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, it is believed. Named locally as Gerry Kennedy, from Tikerlevan, Coppenagh, his body was found at midday on Sunday. The father of five had been socialising in Thomastown on Saturday night and decided to sleep in his camper van there due to weather warnings advising people against driving due to forecasted snow and ice. Mr Kennedy, who worked as a builder, parked his camper van in a car park and turned the engine on to keep warm due to the freezing temperatures. It is understood carbon monoxide may subsequently have seeped into the stationary vehicle. https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26184 Wed, 08 Jan 2025 09:55:10 +0000 Motorhome Chat https://motorhomecraic.com/topic.php?t=26184 Welcome Captain Aubrey Hello Captain Aubrey, Welcome to Motorhome Craic, Ireland's longest running motorhome community, why not introduce yourself here so we can welcome you properly.
